This gorgeous Pretty in Pink Cocktail is prepared with wine, cranberry juice, and soda instead of liqueurs or spirits. With its beautiful shade of pink, consider sharing this cocktail with your valentine! It’s also a great option for a bridal shower or a girl’s night!
AIN’T NOTHING WRONG WITH PINK!
I’m not one of those people who likes to apply labels to things, but in this case, I have to make an exception. The Pretty in Pink Cocktail would be a great cocktail to serve at a bridal shower or at a girls night in get together. Now, because I’m quite comfortable with being who I am, let me also say that I would drink this cocktail in a biker bar and not think twice about it!
This Pretty in Pink Cocktail is prepared with wine, which normally, I don’t care for. But, when the wine is mixed with cranberry juice and a little bit of soda, I’m all in! For my version, I used a little bit of lemon-lime soda. Does it make a difference? It sure does! It’s just enough to add a hint of that citrus flavour without overpowering the wine or the cranberry juice.
Some versions of this particular cocktail include fresh mint. Just like you would if you were making a mojito or a Belle Collins, muddle a few mint leaves in the glass before pouring in the cocktail mixture. You will note that I left the ice out of this one. Rather than let the ice water down the cocktail, make sure all of your ingredients are chilled first. Then, you don’t have to fuss with ice at all.

GUYS AND PINK
At the beginning of this post, I touched briefly on the colour pink being assigned to girls only. And, I for one, think that’s just wrong. I’m a guy and I love pink. I’ll wear a pink shirt without hesitation! So, if you’re like me, and you’re about to make this Pretty in Pink Cocktail, keep some of my other very pink drinks in mind too.
The Classic Cosmo is a gorgeous shade of pink – if you’re man enough to handle it! 😉 There’s also the Pink Pussycat Cocktail, and of course, the ultimate pink drink, the Marilyn Monroe!
Let me tell you something weird about the word pink. Apparently, to everyone I know, I can’t say the word properly. For some reason, they say that it comes out of my mouth like INK with a P in front of it. So, when they try to correct me, all I hear is PANK! I think I’m saying it right, but I also swear that donkey and monkey should sound like dun-kee, not don-kee!

CHILL IT FIRST
Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’m on to something here. But, I feel that wine melts ice faster than other alcoholic beverages. I’m crazy, right? Well, I haven’t sat there and timed it with a stopwatch or anything, but it’s just what I’ve concluded from general observation.
To avoid the cocktail getting too watered down, it’s best to start with well-chilled ingredients. In our home, soda or pop is always in the fridge anyway. The same can be said for cranberry juice. We’re not big on wine, so what we do have is usually in a cupboard.
To eliminate the risk of only having room temperature wine, I have purchased a few little bottles. It’s easy to keep those in the fridge at all times. They don’t even take up that much room! If, however, you like wine, buy the bigger bottles, because it’s certainly cheaper in the long run!
