Curling up under a blanket with a bowl of homemade popcorn and a movie on a cold wintery evening is the best way to stay warm and cozy. These giftable Popcorn Seasoning Blends will be put to good use when staying home during a blizzard this winter. Make it hard to choose by gifting all six flavours!
Everyone has a pantry with spices and herbs just sitting there waiting to be used up. Well, experiment with those jars of spices and whip up a variety of Popcorn Seasoning Blends! The purpose of this post was to show you how easy it would be to put together these seasoning blends as a gift. It’s a great gift idea for the popcorn fanatic or the movie buff in your family or circle of friends.
To be perfectly honest though, these seasonings can also be used on chicken or fish. If you have a pre-mix seasoning, you might be more inclined to use it rather than searching through a cupboard full of spice jars, some of which you haven’t used in a very long time. In this instance, these are packaged with popcorn in mind. You can prepare all of them or just some. Package them up nicely and gift them with a jar of unpopped popcorn or a couple of packets of microwaveable stuff.

I’m going to tell you all about this recipe and how you can make it in your home this holiday season, but first, I want to tell you about what you can expect from Lord Byron’s Kitchen this Christmas. I know we’re getting closer to the big day, so it’s time to get to the easier recipes! Before I get into today’s recipe, let me make mention of the five previous holiday confection countdowns that I just finished up this year.
Back in October, I kicked off the holiday season with a holiday recipe series called Lord Byron’s 12 Holiday Trifles Series and followed that up with a second series called Lord Byron’s 12 Holiday Breads and Loaves. Next was a second volume of my 12 Bars and Squares of Christmas! You can find the first bars and squares series here! After that came the seventh annual instalment of Lord Byron’s 24 Cookies of Christmas!
I know we’re getting closer to the big day, which means that most of us will have less time to bake. That is why I’m sharing this new series with you called Lord Byron’s 12 Homemade Holiday Gifts Series! This will be the last series for the 2024 holiday season, so let’s get to it!
LORD BYRON’S 12 SNACKS & TREATS OF CHRISTMAS
Another holiday series, Lord Byron? Yes – why not!? Welcome, Dear Reader, to my last Christmas series this holiday season! I’m calling this series Lord Byron’s 12 Homemade Holiday Gifts Series. Unlike the 24 Cookies of Christmas series that ended a few days ago, this series will focus on easy-to-make snacks and treats that are both delicious and festive.
I will try to keep the recipes in this series quick and easy too. Most of them will require the help of a microwave rather than an oven. And, a bunch of them will involve more assembly-type tasks rather than preheating, beating, whipping, etc.
Just like every other series that I’ve shared here, this series will also see a new snack or treat recipe shared with you, Dear Reader, each and every single day for the next 12 days – even on Saturday and Sunday! You might be asking yourself, how many Christmas recipes could one possibly have or need? Well, I say you can never have too much of a good thing. And, I love having lots of choices. Who wants to prepare the same holiday snacks and treats year after year?

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO PREPARE THIS RECIPE
The following is a list of the ingredients needed to prepare ALL SIX OF THE RECIPES in this post. For exact amounts and measurements belonging to each type of dip, please refer to the printable recipe card located near the bottom of this post.
- Seasonings and Dried Herbs – Chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, dried parsley flakes, dried oregano, dried basil, dried thyme, dried red chili flakes, dried rosemary, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground nutmeg, ground allspice, and ground cloves.
- Nutritional Yeast – Nutritional yeast is a deactivated yeast commonly used as an ingredient in creamy, dairy-free cheese substitutes. It’s easy to find at baking supply or bulk food stores. It tastes very much like parmesan cheese.
- Powdered Cheese – This is essentially dehydrated cheese, although most brands contain no real cheese at all. You can buy it online here or you can steal a few packages from the mac and cheese in your pantry!
- Parmesan – Normally, I recommend real grated parmesan, but in this particular case, I’m going to recommend you use the stuff you can find in a jar or can. Save the good, expensive parmesan for something else.
- Brown Sugar – Sounds weird for a popcorn seasoning, but you can’t make churro without it!
HOW TO MAKE POPCORN USING THE POPCORN SEASONING BLENDS
For each individual Popcorn Seasoning Blend, measure all of the ingredients into a bowl and whisk to combine. Set aside. Toss 6 cups of popped corn with four tablespoons of melted butter. Sprinkle the seasoning blend into the bowl and toss well to coat all of the popcorn. Serve immediately. This method works for all of the seasoning blends. You can use as little or as much of the seasoning as you like.
PACKAGING AND GIFT-GIVING
As you can see, I used little clear Christmas ornaments to package the Popcorn Seasoning Blends for gift-giving. If you purchase these little ornaments, please be careful, because not all of them are food-safe or food-friendly. You can find them on Amazon or at Michaels during the holiday season. They are available in different sizes too, so keep that in mind!
I found those little brown paper tags from a seller on Etsy. They’re so cute! On the back, where I have hand-written the name of the seasoning blend, are little holiday postage stamps! Be sure to print off the instructions for preparing the popcorn and tuck it into the gift box, especially if you are gifting all six of the blends. Alternatively, you could use a larger tag and write the preparation directions on it. Tie the tags to the ornaments with festive string.

Although I have not made any of your popcorn seasoning, yet, I must commend you for the salt free seasonings. I love popcorn and try to avoid butter and commercial seasonings. Thank you for helping those of us on low salt diets to enjoy healthy snacks!
