Gather together a bunch of breakfast items and assemble this super easy Holiday Breakfast Buffet! Your guests and family will love filling up on these morning favourites. Set the buffet right in the middle of your table or kitchen counter and let everyone help themselves!

In essence, a Holiday Breakfast Buffet is a charcuterie filled with popular and common breakfast food items. Charcuterie-type boards are everywhere these days, and it seems that there’s a theme for just about everything. With an abundance of store-bought foods, I put together this breakfast feast to show you just how easy it is to make a breakfast buffet that is super impressive, but super easy too!
Almost everything you see on this board is store-bought. But, I’m going to include recipe links just in case you want to add some homemade goodies to your board too. Most breakfast boards will include bacon, ham, or sausage, along with eggs, toast, yogurt, granola, etc. And, you can certainly add those, or anything else for that matter, to your board. It’s all about customizing it for you and your family.
In my case, I’m sticking to items that can be easily found at almost any grocery store. Although some of the things I’ve included are on the sweet side, that’s okay. It’s Christmas after all! I’m also including foods that will appeal to meat-eaters, vegetarians, health-minded individuals, and even things for those of us who are light eaters at breakfast time. For example, I absolutely love breakfast food, but I’d much rather have a loaded breakfast for dinner! And, I normally never eat breakfast before nine or ten in the morning.

CHRISTMAS MORNING STARTS EARLY
Since Christmas morning in our home is quite early, I’m putting in some yogurt, granola, and fruit for myself. We don’t have a large family, and on most Christmas mornings, it’s just John.e, McKenna, and me. But, I go all out anyway! And, even though McKenna is no longer a child, in fact, she’s 20 years old, she still insists on getting out of bed on Christmas morning quite early. She says that presents have to be opened while it’s still dark outside, otherwise it just does not feel right. But, don’t worry, Dear Reader, once the presents are all opened, I’m heading back to this buffet to get some of those donuts and cinnamon rolls!
I’m going to tell you all about this breakfast recipe and how you can make it in your home this holiday season, but first, I want to review the other Christmas recipes I have shared this holiday season. The last week of October, I finished up my first holiday recipe series for this year, called Lord Byron’s 12 Christmas Donuts. Then, I shared Lord Byron’s 12 Christmas Appetizers. Just last week, I shared the last recipe in my annual 24 Cookies of Christmas series. I still can’t believe that was Volume 6 of that series!
And now, with Christmas just a short time away, I’m kicking off this next series called Lord Byron’s 12 Christmas Breakfasts!

LORD BYRON’S 12 CHRISTMAS BREAKFAST SERIES
Another holiday series, Lord Byron? Yes – why not!? Welcome, Dear Reader, to the fouth of my annual holiday recipe series for this season! I’m calling this one Lord Byron’s 12 Christmas Breakfasts. This series will focus on easy-to-make and some make-ahead breakfasts that are both delicious and festive.
I will try to keep the recipes in this series quick and easy too. Most of them will require some baking, but they won’t be too complex that you can’t whip them up on Christmas morning, especially if you’re an early riser. Some are just assembly-type recipes, while others can be prepared in advance.
Just like every other holiday series that I’ve shared over the years, this series will see a new recipe shared every day for the next 12 days – even on Saturday and Sunday! You might be asking yourself, how many Christmas recipes could one possibly have or need? Well, I say you can never have too much of a good thing. And, I love having lots of choices. Who wants to prepare the same holiday recipes year after year?

INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR THIS RECIPE
The following is a list of breakfast items you might want to consider for your Holiday Breakfast Board. There are no steadfast rules here, so pick and choose what you and your family like to eat.
- Bagels – Assorted flavours or all plain. I tried to find mini bagels but failed. I’m using cinnamon raisin bagels. I have a very easy homemade bagel recipe here.
- Croissants – We love butter croissants, but you can get other flavours too. Go with the minis here too!
- Waffles – Make this easier by using frozen waffles or waffles that you have prepared and frozen yourself. A quick pop into a toaster is all you need to quickly reheat them. Try my homemade waffle recipe!
- Crumpets – You can use these or even English Muffins!
- Mixed Sweets – I’m including mini chocolate pastries, glazed donuts, apple and cherry strudel and mini cinnamon rolls.
- Muffins – These are morning glory muffins. They are my absolute favourite!
- Jam – I have a great recipe for Christmas Jam that works on just about everything! That’s what I’m using here.
- Peanut Butter
- Butter – It’s best to serve room temperature or softened butter. Leave it covered on the counter overnight.
- Maple Syrup & Whipped Cream
- Granola
- Fruits and Berries – Pick and choose your favourites. Wash and chop the night before to make morning assembly easier.
HOW TO MAKE A HOLIDAY BREAKFAST BUFFET
1. Choose Serving Boards or Platters
If you have a wooden or marble cutting board at home, you can certainly use it as a bed for your board. I love my large charcuterie board, but in this case, I used two large serving platters from my Christmas dish set. I was nervous about staining my board with berry juice and grease stains.
2. Place the Breakfast Items
I like to work in sections for the main parts of this board. Pile them into sections all by themselves. They might look bland at first, but they will all come together once the fruit and garnishes are added. Start by laying out your bowl of jam, peanut butter, whipped cream, etc. Next, lay down a base consisting of alternating sections of danishes, bagels, sausages, etc. Work your way around the platters making little piles here and there until the plates are looking full and yummy.
Lord Byron’s Notes
If you have a cedar tree near your home, cut a few pieces with a pair of pruning shears. Be sure to wash the branches well in cold water and spin them dry in a salad spinner. Some cedar can be toxic if ingested. Use ONLY as decor, not as a part of the recipe!!
3. Various Fruits and Berries
Pick fruits and berries that you like to eat! You can be very selective and choose only green fruits and berries or only red fruits and berries. Or, you can use fruits and berries that are in season. For my board, I chose fruits that we love to eat and also I picked a few that would add to the overall look of the Holiday Breakfast Buffet, including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and some pomegranate seeds.
4. Finishing Touches
A holiday-themed buffet would not be complete without greenery! This can be done quite easily. In my case, I’m using fresh bay leaves that I picked up in the produce section at a grocery store. Wash them and gently pat them dry with paper towels. I have tucked them in around the food items at random.

MAKE IT AHEAD OF TIME
You can make most, if not all, of this Holiday Breakfast Buffet in advance, however, I would not make it a day or two in advance. You may prepare everything the night before, but I would not assemble the board fully, because the items will not hold up well to being left on the countertop or refrigerated. As you know, it’s very easy for bready foods to absorb moisture, so they might become a little soggy.
Take small steps to make assembly much easier. Transfer the butter, jam, or whatever spreads and condiments you are using to serving bowls. Cover them with plastic wrap and refrigerate. Any food items that can be kept on the counter overnight can be prepared too, for example, get the granola or cereal into a serving bowl. Wash and chop the fruit and berries and place those into bowls too. Keep everything well covered and refrigerated if needed.
If you want to serve meat items or eggs, you can cook the bacon and sausage the night before and quickly reheat them in the morning. Make scrambled eggs in the morning, because they don’t taste very good reheated. If you choose to go the hard-boiled egg route, they are perfectly fine served cold or at room temperature, so those can be prepared the day before as well. If you take the time to prep and think about how to present the buffet, you can get about 90% of it all ready to go. It certainly makes serving breakfast on Christmas morning so much faster and easier.
