With a couple of handfuls of fresh strawberries, a splash of vanilla extract, and some sugar, you can make the most easy and deliciously simple Strawberry Dessert Sauce. Pour it over pancakes or waffles, drizzle some on ice cream, or shake an ounce into your favourite berry-based cocktail!
4-5cupsstrawberries,washed, stems removed, and halved
2teaspoonsvanilla extract
1/2cupsugar
Instructions
Transfer the prepared strawberries to a food processor. Process until the strawberries are pureed and completely smooth.
Strain the pureed strawberries into a saucepan through a fine-mesh sieve, discarding any seeds or pulp left in the sieve. Add the sugar and vanilla extract.
Over medium-high heat, bring to a boil. Once boiling, boil for 1 minute before reducing the heat to low. Allow the syrup to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until syrupy.
Turn off the heat and allow the sauce to cool for 20 minutes before transferring it to a glass, food-safe bottle with a tight-fitting lid. Refrigerate to chill for another 40 minutes.
