  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup nonpareils, Christmas themed sprinkles

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line a baking sheet with a silicone liner and set aside.  Pour sprinkles into small, shallow bowl.
  • In a mixing bowl, use a hand-held mixer to cream the butter for one to two minutes.
  • Add the sugar and incorporate into the butter until creamy.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and milk.  With the mixer on medium speed, beat the ingredients into the butter and sugar mixture.
  • Add the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.  Beat into the mixture until well incorporated.
  • Scoop the dough out into slightly heaping teaspoons.  Roll dough into balls and immediately roll into sprinkles.
  • Place on prepared baking sheet, at least 2 inches apart.  Bake for exactly 12 minutes.  Remove from oven and leave to cool for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire cooling rack to finish cooling.
  • Store in food-safe container.  Can be frozen.  Will last up to one week at room temperature.
