The ultimate rich and indulgent treat can be summed up in three words – S’mores Chocolate Spoons! Melted milk chocolate is topped with classic s’mores ingredients like marshmallows, cookies, and graham crackers. Stir a cup of hot chocolate with one of these spoons while watching your favourite holiday movie! They make a great gift idea too!

Believe it or not, the first time I tried a s’mores treat was less than two years ago. To be perfectly honest, I never did get the hype. A couple of weeks back, however, I assembled a S’mores Dessert Wreath and I absolutely loved it! I think the key for me is that I don’t like the warm, gooey mess of s’mores, but love the eat them otherwise. S’mores Chocolate Spoons are just perfect because they have all of the flavours without the need for fire!
As you can see in the photographs that follow, I packaged the individual spoons by wrapping them in cellophane and tying them up with a ribbon. I stuck a bunch of them into a mug with the handle pointing down. This is a great way to serve them on your hot chocolate bar if you happen to have one.
Also, note that I used my actual spoons and not plastic or wooden spoons which are most often used in instances like this. I did this for two reasons. I did buy a package of wooden stirring spoons, but they were not deep enough to hold a good amount of melted chocolate. Secondly, I knew I was not going to be gifting any of them, so I could use my real spoons.

VINTAGE CUTLERY
Finally, I know someone is going to ask me, so let me just put this out there now. As a food blogger, I used to have a stash of cutlery that I used as props only. In fact, I still have a cabinet full of plates, bowls, drinking glasses, etc., that are used as props. I grew so tired of having mismatched pieces of cutlery for props, a proper set of cutlery for everyday use, and two other full sets that are used for special occasions. One day, I had the idea that I could just get rid of my regular everyday set and stock our cutlery drawer with mismatched pieces that I would normally use for blog photos.
I found an Etsy store that sold antique and vintage cutlery in sets. Each set had no two pieces that were the same. I ended up purchasing two sets of each – teaspoons, tablespoons, butter knives, dessert forks, and dinner forks. I also found serving spoons and forks of all shapes and sizes. Once they all arrived, I got rid of our everyday set and now we have a fully stocked cutlery drawer with mismatched vintage cutlery that I can make regular use of as well as use for blog props.
Soon after, I did the same with dinner plates, side plates, and bowls too. We still have a good set of dinnerware and a Christmas set too, but our everyday use plates and bowls are all vintage and used for blog photos as well. It certainly did save a lot of space in the end, even though John.e might have thought I had lost my mind! Ha!

I think it would make a lovely gift idea if you were to use real cutlery for these S’mores Chocolate Spoons. You can pick up vintage or used spoons at flea markets or yard sales. Or, if you wish, you can use the same Etsy store that I purchased mine from!
Lord Byron’s Notes
I’m using a variety of metal tablespoons, however, you can use teaspoons if you prefer. If you are preparing these as treats, a teaspoon size would be perfect. In fact, as a treat, I would stick to plastic or wooden spoons if possible. For the purpose of stirring hot chocolate with these spoons, a tablespoon would work better in terms of holding on it enough ingredients to influence the flavour of the hot chocolate.
NO-BAKE RECIPES
I used to think that the term no-bake meant that a recipe was more of an assembly-type recipe. Something like a salad, for example. It sounds simple enough, right? Toss the lettuce and any other veggies you want into a bowl. Top it with cheese, croutons, avocado, hard-boiled egg, etc. Add some dressing and you’re all done! But, no-bake actually just means no baking. There still might be some stove-top cooking needed – or even a microwave, for that matter.
To prepare S’mores Chocolate Spoons, you will need to use your microwave. So, even though they’re no-bake and kid-friendly, you will still need some way to melt the chocolate. You could use a stovetop too. I’d still consider this recipe to be no-bake!
Some other no-bake-type holiday recipes you might enjoy are these Rudolph’s Red Nose Cookies. Hairy Moose Droppings are delicious and always quite the conversation starter! Just like these Caramel Peanut Slices were a favourite of my mom’s so were these Marshmallow Coconut Balls and so were these Christmas Crunch Cookies. INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO PREPARE THIS RECIPE
The following is a list of the ingredients needed to prepare this recipe. For exact amounts and measurements, refer to the printable recipe card located near the bottom of this post.
- Chocolate – I used milk chocolate, but you can use semi-sweet too. Use good quality melting chocolate since it will be the predominant flavour in this recipe.
- Marshmallow Bits
- Cookie Bits
- Graham Crackers – I used regular graham crackers that you can find in any grocery store, but I also put down some gluten-free graham crackers, because I actually prefer the taste of them.
- White Chocolate – This is optional, but I used a little bit of melted white chocolate to drizzle over the tops of the spoons. Not only does it create dimension and make the spoons prettier, but it helps to hold the other toppings in place.
WHAT ARE MARSHMALLOW BITS? AND WILL REAL MARSHMALLOWS WORK?
Marshmallow bits are basically dehydrated marshmallows. They are the type you’d find in breakfast cereal for kids. They’ve become really popular in ice cream shops and in lots of confections you see in bakeries.
I would take the time to explain to you where I got mine, but I already know that a store on the side of a country road in rural Ontario is not that accessible to everyone. Ha! The best place to get them is at Walmart, Target, or online.
Since I’ve recently jumped on the Amazon Prime bandwagon, I’ll share this link with you. Kraft was not the brand I used, but the ingredients are the same and so is the size of the marshmallow bits. The brand I used was actually Gourmet Village.
Real marshmallows will work too, but even if you used mini marshmallows, they will still be too big for these spoons. You will note that I’m also using cookie bit sprinkles. I cannot find a link for them anywhere. If you cannot find them locally, you can use any chocolate cookie, like an Oreo, for example, and just crumble it to resemble sand.

HOW TO MAKE S’MORES CHOCOLATE SPOONS
Before you start, line up 12 tablespoons on a baking sheet so that the handle of the spoon is resting on the rim of the baking sheet. This will level out the spoon so that the melted chocolate will not spill out. To keep the spoons from moving about too much, line the baking sheet with a silicone baking mat. Place the prepared baking sheet, complete with the tablespoons, in your freezer to chill. A cold baking sheet and spoons will prevent the melted chocolate from spreading out too much.
While the baking sheet and spoons are chilling, place the milk chocolate into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on medium power in 30-second intervals, stirring well with a rubber spatula between each interval until the chocolate is creamy and smooth.
Remove the baking sheet with the spoons from the freezer and working with one spoon at a time, dip it into the melted chocolate. Be sure to fully submerge and coat the spoon well on both sides. Drip off the excess chocolate back into the bowl and set the spoon back onto the baking sheet, being sure to keep the handle of the spoon raised on the rim as before.

Once all of the spoons have been dipped into the melted chocolate, it’s time to fill the spoons. Using a teaspoon, fill each tablespoon with the remaining chocolate. Don’t overfill them; you don’t want the chocolate to run over the sides. Keep them neat and tidy. Once the spoons are filled, immediately sprinkle over the marshmallow bits, crushed cookies, and crumbled graham crackers. Set aside to set.
Next, using the same melting technique as before, melt the white chocolate and transfer it to a resealable bag. Cut a small tip from one lower corner and use the bag to gently squeeze out the melted white chocolate creating a zig-zag pattern over each spoon. Transfer the baking sheet to the fridge to set the chocolate. Once set, wrap individually in cellophane and tie at the base with a festive ribbon.

STORING, PACKAGING, & FREEZING
When it comes to most snacks and treats, they taste best at room temperature, but they don’t hold up well to being left out on your countertop for long periods of time. They will stay fresh in a cookie jar or food-safe container with a lid for 3-5 days if left to sit on your kitchen countertop. You can store them in a food-safe container in your fridge. When you want one, two, or half a dozen, take them out of the container and place them in a single layer on a plate. Let them sit at room temperature for 5 minutes and they’re ready!
If you plan to freeze your S’mores Chocolate Spoons, you certainly can! Once the chocolate has hardened, pack them into food-safe containers. The container must be freezer friendly! You’ll want to ensure a very tight-fitting lid too. I use these quite often when freezing baked goods. I like to place a sheet of plastic wrap over the top of the container before pushing the lid on. This helps to create a better seal. The goal is to keep all of that freshness locked in!
You can freeze these for up to three months. If you plan to give previously frozen pops as a gift, I would lay them out on a wire cooling rack to thaw completely. If packaging, wait until the condensation has evaporated. Once thawed, pile into cellophane bags and tie with a ribbon, or stack in a cookie tin/box.
With all of that said, you really don’t need to freeze snacks and treats, because for the most part, they are ready in very little time and you should easily be able to prepare them the day you plan to eat them or serve them to guests.

Those would make a great gift with some homemade hot chocolate mix. If you have a dehydrator you can make your own dehydrated marshmallows, I do it with the mini ones all the time, a lot cheaper and kids big and small love them. It doesn’t take long. Make sure you test them for doneness, take a couple off the tray, let them cool good, and taste. I fill a half gallon canning jar for less than 2 dollars. Don’t try with homemade ones, that’s another story.
