Dripping with gooey cheese; and, seasoned with garlic, oregano, and basil, Cheesy Garlicky Breadsticks promise to be your new go-to finger food, appetizer, and guilty pleasure.  About 20 minutes from start to finish, Cheesy Garlicky Breadsticks can kick off any game night just in time!

Who doesn’t love breadsticks; really!?  Whether you decided to serve them alongside a green salad, or with a piping hot pizza, as a game night appetizer, or just by themselves in your pajamas with Netflix as your only company – the choice is yours.  And, no matter how you slice it, they are the ultimate in comfort food.

To make breadsticks, you could certainly take a healthier approach and make a cauliflower crust; you could also make a pizza-like dough from scratch.  Or, you could be lazy like I am most of the time and take shortcuts. 

For my Cheesy Garlicky Breadsticks, I used a store-bought, thin crust pizza dough.  It was already pre-made and ready for the oven.  All I needed to do was whip together the topping and bake it for a few minutes.

You can find the exact recipe below, but if you want to make this dish even faster, you could use my pre-made Cheesy Vegan Garlic Bread Seasoning.  I always have this stuff on hand for a quick Cheesy Garlicky Breadstick fix!

Another thing you might want to consider is a dipping sauce.  For some reason, breadsticks are just not the same without a good dipping sauce.  Trust me on this!  I would highly recommend my Newfoundland Donair Sauce for this particular dish.  The sweetness of the donair sauce is the perfect complement to the saltiness of the cheese-laden breadsticks.

As a side note, when reading the recipe below, you’ll note that I left out the nutritional yeast that’s found in the Cheesy Vegan Garlic Bread Seasoning recipe.  It’s not needed for this recipe, but if you plan to use the pre-made seasoning, it’ll be fine left the way it is.  Just add three tablespoons of the Cheesy Vegan Garlic Bread Seasoning mix to the two cups of cheese (vegan cheese or otherwise) and toss to blend together.  Pile the mixture onto the pizza crust and bake according to package instructions.

Ingredients
  1. 1 store-bought thin crust pizza
  2. 1 cup old white cheddar cheese, grated
  3. 1 cup old yellow cheddar cheese, grated
  4. ¼ teaspoon salt
  5. ½ tablespoon garlic powder
  6. ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  7. ½ teaspoon dried basil
  8. ½ teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
  1. Toss the two cheeses and the herbs, along with the salt, in a bowl. Blend together.
  2. Pile onto pizza crust.
  3. Bake according to pizza crust package instructions, or for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
  4. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 2 minutes before slicing.
